About
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working for Seattle Christian Counseling in Bellevue and Kent. I have a passion for empowering others to experience freedom, wholeness, and love, and for helping couples, families, and communities to strengthen relational bonds. Healing is not an end in itself, but a means to know God and to become who we are meant to be as individuals and in relationship with others. I am excited to accompany you on this journey as you discover more about yourself, your relationships, and God.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
I strive to foster a caring, open environment in which you will feel comfortable to explore your deepest thoughts, concerns, and hopes. As your counselor, I seek to make you feel understood and valued for who you are. Above everything else, I desire to see life and healing and redemption in your life. My goal is to provide the professional insight, relationship and life coaching, and emotional support that will nurture such healing and redemption.
What I Offer As A Christian Counselor
I offer support as both a pastor and a counselor, which means that I can draw on both of these vocations to provide you with the tools and resources to overcome personal or relational obstacles. Using my professional insight, I can offer you a listening ear, objective counsel, and a positive relationship in the collaborative dynamic between client and counselor. I believe that psychotherapy is an opportunity to discern how God is working in our lives, and I will accompany you as you seek to understand the healing that the Lord is already effecting within you.
My Counseling Approach: What to Expect in Therapy
My counseling methods closely resemble life coaching: for me, being a counselor is all about providing the insight, tools, and encouragement that enables others to grow and change in positive ways. We will discern your goals for therapy, and in our first few sessions, I want to listen to your story so that you feel understood. As I get to know more about you and your needs, I will provide interpretations, resources, and encouragement for enacting change. My counseling approach is highly relational, and our work will be collaborative; I will also, when appropriate, encourage the inclusion of your loved ones and/or others within your supportive community in sessions to join us as you work toward healing and wholeness.

On a Personal Note
I am personally familiar with many of the issues my clients face, including the grief which results from the loss of a child, the angst of marital crisis, and the disappointment of professional set-backs. The Lord has brought me healing, reconciliation, freedom and growth through community, mentors, friends, prayers, and psychotherapy. My passion for Christian counseling arises from my own experience of healing in therapy, and my conviction that God can always do more than we can ask or imagine.
